Deepavali - Kannan Varum [DivX] by sanklaren

Deepavali or more commonly known as 'Diwali' is the festival of light and hope that is celebrated across the whole of India and by many Indians residing in other countries. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes.

Deepavali is celebrated by lighting candles and small earthen oil lamps called 'Diya'.

Diwali is celebrated in various parts of the world, particularly those with large populations of Hindu and Sikh origin. These include countries such as Sri Lanka, Myanmar,[27] Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Mauritius, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Guyana, Surinam, Trinidad and Tobago, the Netherlands, Canada, the United Kingdom,[27] and the United States.

The whole community is welcoming this festival of lights. The Chief Minister of Malacca and the Mayor of this Heritage City are wishing all Hindus a Happy Deepavali and their wishes are seen on the streets banners, neon lights, billboards and LED panels across the city. Following behind them are companies, traders, retailers and community leaders and many others who are making this festival a merry one, hand in hand.

There will be an Open House at Pigeons Field or Padang Niru in Malacca on 29 October 2011. All are welcome. This is only one of the many events that takes place once a year. Don't miss the opportunities.

Malacca Green Carnival

Organised by Green Tech Malaysia, the Malacca State Government and the Kementerian Tenaga, Teknoloji Hijau dan Air, the Green Community Carnival took off in Malacca on, 12 June, 2011.
Save The Earth And Make The Different You've probably noticed that GREEN is everywhere these days-in the news, politics, fashion, and even technology. As globalization makes the world become smaller, it becomes increasingly easy to see how the lives of people (and plants and animals and ecosystems) everywhere are closely synced up with one another. So toys made in Asia can affect the quality of life in Europe, pesticides used in Argentina can affect the health of people in the United States, and greenhouse gas emissions from Australia can affect a diminishing rainforest in Brazil. The truth is that evey single thing we do every day has an impact on the planet, good or bad. The good news is that as an individual, you have the power to control most of your choices and therefore, the impact you create. From where you live to where you buy, eat and use to light your home. To where and how you go on vacation, to how you shop or vote, you can have a role on the global impact. So, why wouldn't you want to GREEN .......................................?
